The latest Wingleader Photo Archive is something of a curve ball!
The Avro Manchester is a subject that we always wanted to cover in this series and we are delighted that our Lancaster expert Peter Allam agreed to take it on. Many of the modifications and innovations that were introduced on the Manchester went on to be part of the mighty Lancaster, and Peter has done a terrific job in identifying and explaining them all in the following pages.
If you have even a passing interest in the Avro Lancaster then this is definitely a book for you. Although badly let down by its Rolls-Royce Vulture engines, the Manchester was nevertheless a very modern design for its day and deserves its place on the bookshelf and, hopefully one day, on a modelling bench as well.
As always, we have some superb high-res images throughout the book and have pulled out the shadow detail to really highlight the small vents and aerials that have been overlooked since WW2.
